Kadına yönelik şiddet yaygın, toplumsal ve çok boyutlu bir sorundur. Şiddet davranışı, içine sadece fiziksel içerikli şiddeti değil, sözel ve psikolojik tacizi de içeren davranışlar ile birine bilerek rahatsızlık veya fiziki olarak zarar vermeyi içermektedir. Kadına yönelik şiddetin nedenleri incelendiğinde, toplumun kadına ve erkeğe bakış açısı, ekonomik problemler, biyolojik ve psikolojik nedenler öne çıkmaktadır. Şiddet, sonuçları ile bireylerin fiziksel ya da psikolojik sağlığını derinden etkileyen bir yıkımdır. Bu makalede; kadına yönelik şiddet, nedenleri, çeşitleri, etkileri ve şiddetin önlenmesinde hemşirelerin rolü tartışılmıştır.

Violence against women is a common, social and multidimensional problem. Violent behavior, violent content into not only the physical, verbal and psychological abuse, including one with behavior disorders or deliberate physical harm. When examining the causes of violence against women, the women and men in society, economic problems , biological and psychological status are the causes of the violence against women. Violence is a kind of demoliation that its consequences deeply affects the individual?s physical or psychological health. In this article ; throughout the violence against women , its causes , types, effects and the role of nurses in the prevention of violence are discussed.
