Tarihte şiddetin ilk olarak aile kurumunda ortaya çıktığı görülmektedir. Geleneksel özelliklere sahip ataerkil Türk ailesinde kabul gören, erkeğin kontrolü ve gücü devam ettirmeye yönelik temel inancı doğrultusundaki kökleşmiş temel eşitsizlik anlayışı, kadına ve çocuğa yönelik şiddetin, yazılı ve yazısız toplumsal normlarla hoşgörülüp, desteklenerek nesilden nesile aktarılarak, günümüze kadar devam etmesine sebep olmuştur. Bugün, Türk aile yapısında meşrulaşmış olan erkeğe yönelik güçlü ve yönetici imajı, kadın ve çocukların baskı altında tutulmasına ve fiziksel, psikolojik, cinsel boyutta aile içi şiddete maruz kalmasına sebep olabilmektedir. Öte yandan, toplum olarak aile içi şiddet olgularına yönelik tepkimizin çok yavaş olduğu inkar edilemez bir gerçekliktir. Aile içi şiddet, yaygın olduğu kadar gizlenen, müdahale edilmediğinde nesilden nesile aktarılan evrensel ve sosyal bir problemdir. Bir insan hakları ihlali olan ve insanlığın gelişiminin önünde bir engel olarak duran her türlü şiddet önlenmedikçe, toplumların tam sağlığa ulaşması olanaksız görünmektedir. Sadece maruz kalanın değil, tüm toplumun olumsuz etkilendiği bu sosyal problemi önlemede, toplumun tüm kurum ve kuruluşlarına, özellikle gerek koruyucu sağlık hizmet sunumunda gerekse tedavi kurumlarında sıklıkla şiddet mağduru bireylerle karşılaşan ve onlara bakım veren hemşirelere önemli görevler düşmektedir. Bu kapsamda, yazıda aile içi şiddetin geçmişten bugüne Türk aile yapısındaki yeri değerlendirilerek; hemşirelerin bunu önleme, tedavi ve rehabilitasyondaki rolü ve önemi konusu ele alınmıştır.

In the past, violence first appeared in the family institution. The main sense of inequity rooted in the basic belief in man's control and power to continue, Which is traditional characteristics and accepted in the Turkish family, violence against women and children has been tolerated by written and unpublished social norms and has been supported and transferred to generations from generation. Today, the powerfull and managerial image of a man that has been legitimized in the Turkish family structure can cause domestic violence at the physical, psychological and sexual dimensions aganist women and children. On the other hand, it is undeniable that our response to the domestic violence as a society is very slow. Domestic violence is a universal and social problem that is hidden as far as it is common and transmitted from generation to generation when it can not be intervened. Unless all kinds of violence, which is a violation of human rights and an obstacle to human development, are prevented, it seems impossible for societies to reach full health. This social problem, which is affected not only by the exposed but by the whole society, there are important tasks for all the institutions and organizations of the society, especially the nurses who meet and give care to the victims of violence, especially in the provision of preventive health services or in treatment institutions. In this context, this article focuses on the violence in Turkish family structure, the role and importance of nurses in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
