Travmatik yaşantıların sadece olumsuz etkileri üzerine odaklanmak travma sonrası reaksiyonları anlama ve bireyi travma sonrası güçlendirmede yetersiz kalmaktadır. Konuyla ilgili kapsamlı bir anlayış kazanmada sadece olumsuz etkilenmelerin değil, olumlu etkilerinde açıklanmasına gereksinim vardır. Travma sonrası gelişim olarak tanımlanan kavramın açıklanması sağlık çalışanlarına; travmatik yaşantılar sonrası bireylere gereksinim duydukları desteği sağlamalarında ve bireylerin bu süreçten güçlenerek çıkmalarına yönelik müdahaleleri planlamalarında önemli katkılar sağlayacaktır. Bu derlemenin amacı travma sonrası gelişim kavramını açıklamaktır.

Focusing only on the negative effects of traumatic events is insufficient if the aim is to understand post-traumatic reactions and to strengthen individuals after suffering from trauma. Therefore, to comprehensively understand the issue, not only its negative effects but also its positive effects should be explained. Explaining the concept which is defined as posttraumatic growth will greatly help health workers to provide individuals with the support they need after their traumatic experiences and to plan interventions for those individuals to overcome this process. The purpose of this review is to describe the concept of posttraumatic growth.
