Tüm dünyada yaşlı nüfusun giderek artması, yaşlılara sunulan sağlık hizmetlerinin önemini artırmış, yaşlılara yönelik psikoterapiler de bu gelişmelerden etkilenmiştir. Bu bağlamda psikoterapilerden bazıları geleneksel modellerin yaşa özgü olarak revize edilmesine odaklanırken, bazıları tamamen yaşlanma kuramlarına dayanarak geliştirilmiştir. Bu makalede sıklıkla kullanılan psikodinamik terapiler, destekleyici psikoterapi, bilişsel davranışçı terapi ve ulusal literatürde sınırlı olarak ele alınmış olan anımsama terapisi tanıtılmış ve psikiyatri hemşiresinin rolü ele alınmıştır.

The elderly population is increasing all over the world. Therefore has increased the importance of health services provided to the elderly, it is affected by these developments psychotherapy for the elderly. Some of the psychotherapy in this context focus on the revision of the traditional models, some based on the fully developed theory of aging. In this article, psychodynamic therapy, supportive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and reminiscence therapy was introduced as a limited national literature is discussed and deal with the role of the psychiatric nurse.
