Amaç: 1980’li yıllarda gelişmeye başlayan çözüm odaklı kısa süreli terapi, depresyon ve diğer ruhsal bozuklukların tedavisinde etkin olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu deneysel çalışmanın amacı çözüm odaklı kısa süreli terapi temel alınarak hazırlanan çözüm odaklı depresyon ile başa çıkma eğitiminin (ÇODBE) depresif belirtiler üzerindeki etkilerini sınamaktır. Yöntem: Bu araştırma deneysel bir çalışmadır. Deneysel desen olarak ön test-son test-izleme kontrol gruplu 2x3’lük karışık (split plot) deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Depresyon belirtileri olan öğrenciler üzerinde yapılan araştırmanın deney, kontrol ve plasebo grubu 16’şar kişiden oluşmaktadır. Üniversite öğrencilerinin depresyon düzeylerini belirlemek için Beck Depresyon Ölçeği (BDÖ) ön test, son test ve izleme ölçümlerinde kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sürecinde deneysel işlem olarak uygulanan ÇODBE yedi oturumluk olup, oturumlar bir saat kadar sürmüştür. Plasebo kontrol grubuna beş oturumluk depresyon ile ilişkisiz ‘iletişim becerileri eğitimi’ uygulanmıştır. Bu nedenle araştırmanın bağımsız değişkeni deney grubuna uygulanan ÇODBE’dir. ÇODBE’nin depresyon düzeyini azaltma etkisinin uzun süreli olup olmadığını sınamak için bir ay sonra izleme ölçümleri yapılarak analiz yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın bağımlı değişkeni ise öğrencilerin depresyon düzeyleridir. Bağımlı değişkene ilişkin veriler, BDÖ ve DKGF ile belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlar: Araştırma sonucunda deney, kontrol ve plasebo gruplarının ön test, son test puanları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur. Deney grubuna bir ay sonra uygulanan izleme testi sonucunda son test ve izleme testi puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı saptanmıştır. Tartışma: Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular çözüm odaklı depresyon ile başa çıkma eğitiminin depresif belirtileri azaltmada etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.

Objective: Since Solution-focused brief therapy introduction in the mid-1980s, research has consistently shown that solution focused therapy is effective in the treatment of depression and numerous other conditions. The purpose of this experimental study was to examine the effectiveness of solution focused coping with depression training based on solution focused brief therapy on the depression symptoms of university students. Methods: This research is a quasi-experimental design in which pretest-posttest design with a control and placebo groups have been used. The data were obtained from a sample consisting of 48 university students who have depression symptoms, 16 in experimental, 16 in control and 16 in placebo groups. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) was administered as pretest, posttest and follow-up tests. Dependent variable was solution-focused therapy in which experimental group was provided with 7-hour group counseling (7 sessions which took one hour). In the meantime, placebo group was provided with irrelevant training (communication skills) to eliminate the effect of subjects. After the sessions were wound up, BDI questionnaire was administered again among both groups. One month later, the posttest and then BDI questionnaire were conducted. Results: Results indicated that there were significant differences among the experimental, the control and placebo groups for mean of depression points in favor of the experimental group. The results of the follow-up tests administered to experimental group one month later indicated that the differences between posttest and follow-up test results were not significant. Conclusion: Findings obtained from end of the research indicated that solution focused coping with depression training is effective in reducing depressive symptoms of university students.
