Test kullanımında bir standartlaşmanın gerekliliğine değinen bu yazıda testlerin tanımı verilmiş, bu tanım bağlamında barındırmaları gereken özellikler açıklanmıştır. Kimi zaman test olgusunun altında yatan biyolojik belirleyicilik varsayımının hatalarına düşüldüğü vurgulanmıştır. Testlerin kullanılma amaçları da ele alınmış ve testlerde dikkat edilmesi gereken öğeler sıralanmıştır. Bu öğelerin yanışım kullanıcıda olman gereken özellikler belirtilmiştir. Son olarak, da ülkemizde standart geliştirme ve testlerin doğru kullanımı yolunda birey ve dernek sorumluluklarına ilişkin düşüncelere yer verilmiştir.

This article, which expresses the urgency of a standardization of testing in Turkey, presents a definition of tests and the characteristics that they should have. It emphasizes that, at times, test users assume test results are measures of biologically determined characteristics, making the mistake of reification. The article also discusses the purposes of tests and explains the characteristics that are important in a test. Besides test characteristics, the necessary user characteristics are indicated. Finally, it presents views about the responsibilities of individuals and organizations in developing standards and assuring correct use of tests in Turkey.
