Bu çalışmanın amacı, ergenlerin utangaçlık düzeylerini “cinsiyet”, “doğum sırası”, “yaşamın çoğunun geçirildiği yerleşim yeri”, “algılanan anne tutumu”, “algılanan baba tutumu” ve “lise eğitimi ve yaşantısı yeterlik algısı” değişkenlerine göre incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Ankara ilinde bulunan üniversitelerin çeşitli lisans bölümlerinin birinci sınıfında öğrenim gören 628 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Bağımsız değişkenlere ilişkin verilerin elde edilmesinde araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen Kişisel Bilgi Formu, öğrencilerin utangaçlık düzeylerine ilişkin verilerin toplanmasında ise Utangaçlık Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, ikili karşılaştırmalar için t-testi; çoklu karşılaştırmalar için tek yönlü varyans analizi yöntemi ile test edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, üniversite öğrencilerinin utangaçlık düzeylerinin “cinsiyet”, “doğum sırası”, “yaşamın çoğununun geçirildiği yerleşim yeri”, “algılanan anne tutumu”, “algılanan baba tutumu” ve “lise eğitimi ve yaşantısı yeterlik algısı” açısından anlamlı düzeyde farklılık gösterdiği görülmüştür. Elde edilen bu bulgular doğrultusunda, sonuçlar tartışılmış ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the adolescents’ level of shyness according to “gender”, “birth order”, “the place where the students spent most of their lives”, “perceived attitude of mother”, “perceived attitude of father” and “efficiency perception of the high school education and school life” variables. The research study group consists of 628 freshman students of a state university in Ankara. In collecting the data related to the independent variables, the Personal Information Form, developed by the researchers; in collecting the data related to the students' shynesslevels, the Shyness Scale has been used. To compare the dyadic groups t-test and to compare the multiple groups one way ANOVA were used. According to the results, the shyness levels of the university students showed significant difference based on “gender”, “birth order”, “the place which the students spent most of their lives”, “perceived attitude of the mother”, “perceived attitude of the father” and “efficiency perception of the high school education and school life”. In accordance with the obtained data, the results have been discussed on and some suggestions have been made.
