Bu çalışmanın amacı üniversite öğrencilerinde intihar düşünce ve davranışları ile ilişkili faktörleri belirlemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Uludağ Üniversitesi’nin farklı bölümlerinde okuyan 385 birinci ve dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilere Kişisel Bilgi Formu, İntihar Davranışı Ölçeği, Yaşamı Sürdürme Nedenleri Envanteri ve Başa Çıkma Yolları Envanteri uygulanmıştır. Çok Yönlü Varyans Analizleri (MANOVA) sonuçlarına göre, intihar düşünce ve davranışları ile cinsiyet ayrıca baş etme yolları ile cinsiyet arasında bir ilişki bulunama- mıştır. Yaşamı sürdürme nedenleri ile cinsiyet arasında ise anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu ve kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilerden daha çok yaşamı sürdürme nedenlerinin olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çoklu regresyon analizi sonuçlarına göre çaresizlik ve hayata bağlılık intihar plan ve girişimi; iyimser/sosyal destek arayıcı baş etme intihar düşüncesi; sağlık düzeyinden memnuniyet ve hayata bağlılık ise intiharın tekrar edilebilirliği ile ilişkili değişkenler olarak bulunmuştur. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar ilgili literatür kapsamında tartışılmış, sınırlılıklar ve klinik göstergeler belirtilerek gelecek çalışmalar için önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The aim of this study was to determine the predictors of suicide ideation and behavior in university students. The study consisted of 385 the first and fourth year students from various departments in Uludag University. Personal Information Form, Suicide Behavior Questionnaire, Reasons for Living Inventory and Ways of Coping Inventory were administered to the students. According to the result of the MANOVA, there is no relationship between gender and suicide. In addition, there is no relationship between gender and ways of coping. However, there is a significant relationship between gender and reasons for living. In other words, female students reported more reasons for living than male students. The result of the regression analysis revealed that helplessness and commitment to life were significant predictors of suicide plan and attempt. Optimistic/seeking social support was found as significant predictors of suicide ideation. Furthermore, satisfaction from health and commitment to life was significant predictors of suicide’s repeated likelihood. The results of the study were discussed within the relevant literature; in addition, shortcomings and clinical implications were determined and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
