Cinsel istismarın neden olduğu tahribatların psikolojik tedavisinin; içgörü yönelimli, duyarlı ilke ve etkin tekniklerle yapılanmış yöntemlerle yapılması gerekmektedir. Cinsel istismara bağlı travmaya yönelik tedavi sürecinde terapistin bilgi ve deneyimi, cinsel istismar mağdurlarının kişisel özellikleri, istismar öyküleri, yaşadıkları sorunlar ve bu sorunlara yönelik kullanılan tedavi edici müdahaleler ve bunların nitelikleri gibi etmenler, tedavinin gidişini ve sonucunu etkin olarak belirler.

The long term psychological trauma caused by child sexual abuse negatively influences physical, mental and social development and life and it has thus generated a great need for the development of treatment principles and techniques. The psychological treatment model for the damage derived from sexual abuse should be structured by insightful, sensitive treatment principles and effective techniques. The knowledge and the experience of the therapist, the personality features of the victims, the character of the sexual abuse and the types of problems experienced by the victims, the use of interventions and their quality are important factors that determine the treatment process and its results.
