Ruh hekimlerinin profesyonel yaşamlarını zorlaştıran şey, iş tanımlarının anlaşılmazlığıdır. Özellikle kendilerini tarif etmeye çabaladıklarında bu durum iyice belirginleşir. Psikiyatrinin teori ve pratiğine dair sorunların kökeninde ampirik, deneysel olanla ilişkide olduğu veya olması gerektiği fikri yatmaktadır. Tıp bilim değildir. Disiplinler topluluğudur. Buna rağmen ruh hekimleri bu düşünceye kendilerini tutsak etmişlerdir. Çağlar boyunca metafizik, ontoloji, amprisizim, deneyimcilik, rasyonalizm, pozitivism vb. insanlığın temel düşünsel kaynakları olagelmiştir. Bunlar insanoğlunun hayatı anlama çabalarını yansıtır ve dönüşümler olağandır. Örneğin ABD’ye aktarılmadan önce “bilinç dışı” Avrupa’da sözde bilim iken sonrasında tüketim nesnesine dönüşmüştür. Bugünlerde ruh hekimleri benzer bir zaafı benimsemektedirler. Bu bilimsel kimlik sahibi olma problemidir. Bu nedenle alandaki profesyoneller bilimsel olanda geçerlilik arama eğilimindedirler. Ne yazık ki bu inanış veya beklenti psikiyatrinin epistemoloji problemlerine çözüm getirmeyecektir. Bu makalenin amacı tüm bu düşünsel süreçleri ruh hekimleri için bir kez daha ortaya koymaktır. Diğer bir amaçlanan ise ruh hekiminin bu karmaşanın çözümünde sorumlu öğeler olduklarını bir kez daha hissettirmek olmuştur.

What makes the professional life harder for the psychiatrist is the intruigubility of their job-description. Especially on the spesific moment when they do describe themselves. That so-called tangibility has its roots as the availibity of ampirical and experiential devices regarding to the theory and practice of psychiatry. Medicine itself in fact is not a science. But a group of disciplines. Despite this, psychiatrist somehow still have a serious problem of which they feel themselves handicapped. Through the ages metapysics, ontology, ampirisizm, experientialty, rationalism, positivism etc. all are the main sources standing for human being. That is to say in order to deal with the man. Before being transferred to USA the unconscious was to be a quasi science in Europe while it turns to be a consuming material in the States. Nowadays psychiatrists assumes a similar disability of the past. This is the problem of having a scientific identity. Therefore the professionals in the field tend to think of will be having a validate pass in scientifical circles. But unfortunately this belief (or expectance) is not going to bring a solution towards epistemology This review article aims to exhibitate all these remarks one more time for the psychiatrists. The latent intention is the professional in the guestion to feel themselves as the responsible bodies to make this fuzzy thinking turn to be a clear-cut vision.
