Amaç: Bu çalışmanın birinci amacı, depremzede çocukların en sık hissettikleri 10 korkuyu belirlemek, ikincisi depreme doğrudan maruz kalmış ve kalmamış çocukların korkuları arasında bir fark olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklem grubunu, 266 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veriler, Korku Tarama Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Bulgular, depremzede çocuklar tarafından en sık rapor edilen 10 korkunun sırasıyla, annenin ölümü, babanın ölümü, cehennem, enkaz altında kalmak, depremin tekrar olması, ailedeki birinin ölümü, deprem, anne-babadan ayrılma, ölüm ve yangın olduğunu göstermiştir. Bulgular ayrıca, “hatırlatıcılar” ve “ölüm ve ayrılık” korkusu alt boyutlarında depremzede öğrencilerin, tüm alt boyutlar da ise kızların daha yüksek puan aldıklarını ortaya koymuştur. Tartışma: Bulgular, her iki grubun korkuları arasındaki benzerliklere rağmen depreme maruz kalmanın, çocukların doğasında bulunan deprem korkularını tetiklediğini düşündürmektedir.

Objective: The purpose of this study is first, to examine the ten most frequent fears of earthquake exposed children, and second, to investigate the differences between the fears of earthquake exposed and non-exposed children. Method: The sample of the study consists of 266 students. The Fear Survey Schedule was used to collect data. Results: The results indicated that the ten most frequently reported fears of the exposed group were fear of mother’s death, father’s death, hell, being trapped in the debris, recurrence of earthquake, death of the family members, earthquake, separation from parents, own death and fire, respectively. The results also revealed that while the earthquake exposed group scored higher in “reminders” and “fear of death and separation” subtests, girls scored higher in all subdimensions. Conclusion: The results implied that despite the similarities between the fears of the two groups, being exposed to earthquake appeared to trigger the inherent earthquake fears of children.
