Amaç: Sigara sorunu hala çözülememiş
ciddi bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Sigarayı
bırakmak isteyen sigara bağımlıları için
Allen Carr yöntemi cazip bir seçenek
olabilmektedir. Sigara hakkındaki hatalı
programlamanın yeniden düzenlenmesini
hedeflemesi nedeni ile bu yöntem bilişsel
davranışçı yönelimli bir grup psikoterapisi
olarak kabul edilebilir. Bu yöntemde
psikolojik bağımlılığın etkilerini kontrol
etmenin sigarayı bırakmayı sağlayacağı
varsayılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Allen
Carr yönteminin uzun vadede sigara bırakma
sürecinde etkinliğinin araştırılmasıdır.
Yöntem: Çalışmaya 130 sigara
bağımlısı dahil edilmiştir. Sigaranın
olmadığı bir yaşama adaptasyonlarını
değerlendirmek için katılımcılara 3.
gün, 1. ay ve 1. yılda Fagerström Nikotin
Bağımlılık Testi, Erken Uyarı Testi,
Memnun-içmeyen Anketi uygulanmıştır.
Bulgular: Bir yılın sonunda tedavinin
başarı oranı %28-62’dir. Grup etkisine
göre depreşme oranları farklılaşmaktadır.
Sonuç: Sonuçlar, literatürle uyumlu
olarak grup ile bilişsel ve davranışçı
yönelimli bu uygulamanın sigara bağımlılığı
tedavisi için etkili bir seçenek olduğunu
desteklemektedir. Nikotin psikolojik
bağımlılığını gideren Allen Carr yöntemi,
farmakolojik tedavilere önemli bir alternatif
olarak düşünülebilir. Bu yöntemin etkinliğini
artırmak için ileriye dönük randomize
kontrollü çalışmalara ihtiyaç vardır
