This article describes the crisis concept and reviews it within the context of its historical and current perspective. The relationship between suicidal behavior with the crisis is discussed. Basic principles of crisis intervention in its daily application is discussed. The importance of the concept of crisis and crises intervention in preventive psychiatry is discussed.
