Amaç: Bu araştırma Niğde Üniversitesi Zübeyde Hanım Sağlık Yüksekokulu Hemşirelik ve Ebelik Bölümleri'nde okuyan öğrencilerde psikiyatrik belirtilerin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.

Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Niğde Üniversitesi Zübeyde Hanım Sağlık Yüksekokulu Hemşirelik ve Ebelik Bölümü 1. sınıf öğrencileri, (n:99). Örneklemi ise; çalışmaya katılmayı kabûl eden tüm öğrenciler (n:87) oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında, araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan anket formu ve "Belirti Tarama Listesi" (SCL-90-R) kullanılmıştır.

Bulgular: Belirti Tarama Listesi'nin (SCL-90-R) genel semptom ortalaması (x:1.03±0.47) öğrencilerin ruhsal problemleri olduğunu göstermektedir. Ölçeğin somatizasyon, anksiyete, öfke, fobik ank-siyete, paranoid düşünceler ve psikotizm alt boyutlarında orta düzeyde sorun (puan 0.5-1 arası), obsesif kompulsif belirtiler (x:1.38±0.65) kişiler arası duyarlılık (x:1.23±0.68) ve depresyon (x:1.17±0.70) alt boyutlarında ise ruhsal problemlerin varlığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, Ebelik Bölümü öğrencilerinde Hemşirelik Bölümü öğrencilerine göre anlamlı düzeyde daha fazla psikiyatrik belirti tesbit edilmiştir (p<0.05).

Tartışma: Bulgulara göre öğrencilerin ruhsal duruma ilişkin sorun yaşadıklarını söylemek mümkündür. Bu sonuç literatürde belirtilen bilgilerle açıklanabilir. Üniversite öğrencileri değişen yaşam koşulları, âilelerinden ayrılmaları ve yeni bir çevrede yaşamanın getirdiği güçlükler nedeniyle okullarının ilk yıllarında zorluk yaşamaktadırlar. Bununla birlikte Sağlık Yüksekokullarında teorik dersin yanı sıra staj uygulamalarıyla ve uygulama alanındaki güç vakalarla öğrencileri daha fazla zorlayabilmektedir.

Araştırmanın bulguları Sağlık Yüksekokullarının 1. sınıf öğrencilerinin ruh sağlığı sorunu açısından risk grubu olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu nedenle öğrencilerin eğitim ortamından kaynaklanan sorunlarının erken dönemde belirleyip, bu sorunlara ilerlemeden müdahale edilmesi önemlidir. Bunun için özellikle öğrencilere öğrenim yaşantılarının ilk yıllarında oriyantasyon programlarıyla, ilerleyen sınıflarda ise oluşturulacak danışmanlık programlarıyla destek olunması önerilmektedir.

Purpose: This research was made in the purpose of determining the psychiatric symptoms of Nigde University Zübeyde Hanim Health School, Nursing and Midwife Departments. Method: The study consists of the 1. class students of Nigde University Zübeyde Hanim Health School, Nursing and Midwife Departments (99). All of the 1. class students who accepted to join the research were included (87). For collection of data, an inquiry form created by the researchers and 'Symptom Check List' (SCL- 90-R), were used. For the analysis of data, t test, Kruskall Wallis and Mann Whitney U test were used.

Findings: Main symptom average (1.03±0.47) of SCL-90-R shows that the students have psycholoical problems. For example; somatization, anxiety, anger, phobic anxiety, paranoid thoughts and psychotism, medium level trouble at the sub-dimensions (between 0.5-1 points), obsessive compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensibility and psychological problems at depression sub-dimensions (more than 1.0) were seen. Besides, students of midwifery section had more psychological symptoms at sub-dimensions in comparison with nursing students (p<0.05). Gender of the students, places where they lived longest, their socioeconomic levels and the places where they live at present time didn't result in any difference in terms of psychiatric symptoms (p>0.05). Discussion: First grade students are likely to have significant mental and emotional problems about mental status. This result are consistent with the findings in literature. At the first [year]s of school, university students have difficulties, because of the hardships that life brings like being in a new environment and being away from their parents. At the same time, also the probation practices beside the theoretical courses take place in Health High Schools and the unbearable issues at the practice area may put students under higher pressure.

Research findings show that the students of Health High School are a high risk group in terms of psychological trouble. Therefore, it is important to determine the problems resulted from training environment within a short term and to interfere with these problems before they get deeper. Consequently, it is advised to support the student with orientation programs at the early [year]s of training, and with advisory programs at advanced classes.
