Amaç: Bipolar bozukluk ve Erişkin Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğunda (DEHB) görülen benzerlik ve
farklılıkların karşılaştırılması amaçlandı.
Yöntem: Bu çalışmada, DSM IV tanı ölçütlerine göre, DEHB’luğu tanısı konmuş 30 hasta ile bipolar bozukluk
tanısı konan 30 hasta, kontrol grubu olarak sağlıklı 163 erişkin ve 47 öğrenci grubu ile, bipolar bozukluk ve
erişkin DEHB’de görülen belirtilerin benzerlik ve farklılığı açısından karşılaştırıldı. Ülkemizde geçerlilik, güvenirlik
ve norm çalışması yapılmış olan, dikkat eksikliği, aşırı hareketlilik ve sorun yaşama şeklindeki üç boyutu
içeren Dikkat Eksikliği Bozukluğu/Dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite Bozukluğu (DEB/ DEHB) tanısı değerlendirme
ölçeği uygulandı. İstatiksel analizde aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapma değerleri bulunduktan sonra tek
yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve Schefee testi uygulandı.
Bulgular: Erişkin DEHB olanlarda DEHB belirtilerinin genel toplamı tüm gruplardan anlamlı olarak yüksek
bulundu (p<0.01). Bipolar grubu, öğrenci grubu ve normal popülasyon arasında anlamlı bir farklılık
saptanmadı. Erişkin DEHB grubunda, ölçeğin üç alt boyutu tüm diğer gruplardan anlamlı olarak daha yüksek
(p<0.01) iken bipolar bozukluk grubu ile öğrenci ve normal popülasyon arasında bir fark bulunmadı.
Sonuç: Sonuçta erişkin DEHB ile bipolar bozukluğun farklı belirtilerle seyrettiği ileri sürülebilir.

Objective: Main symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) especially attention deficit, impulsivity and its negative effects in
children persist in the late adolescence and adulthood with a rate of 60%. 75% of adult ADHD patients manifest other comorbid disorders like
conduct disorders, oppositional disorders, major depression, anxiety disorders, subtance abuse disorders and antisocial personality disorder.
In this study we have tried to investigate if there is any ADHD symptoms in bipolar disorder and compare with adult ADHD patients and two
kinds of control groups.
Method: The sample consists of 30 bipolar, 30 adult ADHD patients recruited from bipolar outpatient department at Bakirköy State of
Education and Research Hospital of Psychiatry and Neuroscience and adult ADHD outpatient department in Medical Faculty at Istanbul,
Psychiatry Department respectively. The control groups are 47 students from University of Marmara and 163 healthy volunteers from general
population. The age of sample were 16 or above. All the groups of the sample were not different concerning sex distribution and mean age.
The diagnosis of adult ADHD and bipolar disorder were put by two psychiatrists according to DSM-IV criteria and Adult ADD/ADHD DSM-IV
based diagnostic screening and rating scale, developed by Turgay, were given to the whole sample. Validity and reliability of the Turkish version
of the scale were done by Günay et al. The scale is composed of three dimensions; 9 items regarding symptoms of attention deficit according
to DSM-IV, 9 items regarding hyperactivity-impulsivity based on DSM-IV and 30 items regarding problems related with ADHD.
One way ANOVA and Scheefe test have been used for statistical analysis.
Results: The total scores of ADHD symptoms were statistically significantly higher in the adult ADHD patients than all the other three groups
(p<0.01). There was no significant difference between the ADHD scores of bipolar patients and both the student and normal population
groups. In adult ADHD patients three dimensions of the Turgay scale regarding attention deficit hyperactivity and problems were statistically
significantly higher than all the other groups of the sample (p<0.01). There was no significant difference between bipolar group and students,
normal population group according to the total scores of the three dimensions of the scale.
Conclusion: Bipolar disorder is not differed from control groups according to adult ADHD scale. Therefore we can propose that adult ADHD
and bipolar disorder manifest with different kinds of symptoms although comorbidity of bipolar disorder reported in high rates in adult
ADHD.
