Bu araştırmada, homoseksüel ve heteroseksüel erkekler cinsiyet rolleri ve psikolojik belirtiler açısından incelenmiştir. Homoseksüel (N=25) ve
heteroseksüel (N=36) erkeklere, sosyodemografik bilgileri içeren bir anket formu ile Bem Cinsiyet Rolleri Envanteri ve Kısa Semptom Envanteri
uygulanmıştır. Homoseksüel ve heteroseksüel grup arasında, ortalama kadınsı cinsiyet rolleri ve psikolojik belirti puanları açısından anlamlı bir fark
bulunmamıştır. Ancak, ortalama erkeksi cinsiyet rolleri puanı ve Cinsiyet Rolleri durumuna göre iki grup arasında anlamlı fark olduğu saptanmıştır.
Homoseksüel erkeklerin heteroseksüel erkeklere göre kadınlık puan ortalamaları daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Erkeksi cinsiyet rolünde hiçbir
homoseksüel erkek çıkmamıştır. Ayrıca homoseksüeller, heteroseksüel erkeklere göre anlamlı olarak daha fazla intihar girişiminde bulunmuşlardır.

In this study, homosexual and heterosexual males were compared in respect to sex role orientation and
psychological symptoms. Homosexual (N=25) and heterosexual (N=36) males were given the Turkish
versions of the Brief Symptom Inventory and the Bem Sex Role Inventory in addition to a sociodemographic
questionnaire. There was no significant difference between the two sample groups for either BSRI average
feminity score or psychological symptoms. However, there were significant differences between the two
groups on the average masculinity score and the sex role orientation. The homosexuals scored higher on
feminity gender role compared to heterosexual males. None of homosexual males were identified with
masculine attributes. Moreover, there was a higher rate of suicide attempt among homosexual males as
compared to heterosexual group.
