Amaç: Çocukluk çağı ruhsal bozukları arasında en sık karşılaşılanı kaygı bozukluklarıdır. Sosyal fobi genellikle ergenlik döneminde başlayan, kişinin çalışma hayatı ve sosyal işlevselliğinde belirgin bozulmalar ile seyreden yaygın bir hastalıktır. Ağır derecede utangaçlık gösteren çocukların annelerinde kontrol grubuna oranla genelde kaygı bozukluğu, özelde sosyal fobi oranı yüksek bulunmuştur. Bu çalı şmadaki amacımız sosyal fobi tanısı alan çocukların annelerinde sosyal fobi oranını ve sosyal fobik davranışların yaygınlığını belirlemektir.
Yöntem: Sosyal fobi tanısı almış 8-16 yaşları arası çocukların anneleri ile aynı yaş aralığında kontrol grubu çocuklarının annelerine Liebowitz Sosyal Anksiyete Ölçeği (LSAÖ) ve Belirti Tarama Listesi 90 (BTL90) uygulandı ve SCID I kullanılarak tanısal görüşme yapıldı.
Bulgular: Çalışmamızda sosyal fobisi olan çocukların annelerinde sosyal fobiye rastlanma oranı dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu olan çocukların annelerine göre fazla bulunsa da aradaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildir. Ancak kaçınma bölümünde iki grup arası nda anlamlı fark tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca BTL 90 somatizasyon, depresyon, hostilite alt ölçeklerinde sosyal fobisi olan çocukların annelerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede yüksek puanlar saptanmıştır.
Sonuçlar: Sosyal fobinin oluşumunda çeşitli ailesel faktörlerin rol oynayabileceğ i bildirilmektedir. Sadece sosyal fobi değil, başta depresyon olmak üzere ebeveyndeki çeşitli ruhsal bozuklukların ve çocuk yetiştirme biçimlerinin tek tek ya da birlikte sosyal fobi gelişiminde etkili oldukları düşünülmektedir. Çalışmalar babaları da içine alan ve kaygı bozukluklarının tümünü yansıtan şekilde geliştirilmelidir

Objective: The most frequently encountered child psychiatric disorderis anxiety disorders. Social phobia is a common disorder whichusually starts in adolescence and causes a severe impairment ineducational and work life. In the mother of shy and inhibited childrenprevalence rates of anxiety disorders and especially social phobiahave been reported to be high. The aim of the present study is toinvestigate the prevalence of social phobic attitudes in the mothers ofsocial phobic children.Methods: Mothers of children between ages 8-16 with a diagnosis ofsocial phobia and mothers of the same age comparison group wereassessed with the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale and the SymptomChecklist-90. Diagnostic interview was made using the SCID I.Results: Though social phobia scores were higher in the socialphobic children’s mother compared to the control group (which wascomprised of mothres of children with attention deficit andhyperactivity disorder), the difference was not statistically significant.But the avoidance scores revealed a statistically significant difference.Social phobic children’s mothers have scored significantly higher ondepression, hostility and somatization subscales of the symptomchecklist.Conclusions: Familial factors have been suggested to play a role inthe etiogenesis of social phobia. Not only the presence of socialphobia but also depression may have an impact on the rearingpractices of parents as well astheir impact on the parents’ emotionalwell-being. We suggest that our study should be further expandedinvolving farthers of social phobic children.
