Amaç: Bu araştırma Ruh Sağlığı ve Psikiyatri Hemşireliği dersini almakta olan hemşirelik bölümü son sınıf öğrencilerinin dersi almadan önce, dersin teorik bilgisini aldıktan sonra ve dersin uygulamalarını yaptıktan sonra ruhsal sorunu olan bireye yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Hacettepe Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümü son sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmuştur (N:114). Ayrıca örneklem seçilmemiş, söz edilen dersi alan ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden tüm öğrenciler araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır (N:86). Veriler, Anket Formu ve Işıklı (1998) tarafından geliştirilen "Akıl Hastalarına Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği" kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde, tekrarlı ölçümlerde var-yans analizi ve Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Sonuç: Ruhsal sorunu olan bireye yönelik tutumlar hem dersin kuramsal bilgisinin bitiminde hem de uygulamanın ardından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde olumlu yönde değişmiştir (p<0.05). Ayrıca, ruh sağlığı sorunu olan bireylerle daha önce karşılaşmış olanlar ile yaşları daha ileri olan (23-27 yaş) öğrencilerin tutumlarının diğerlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde olumlu olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Ailesinde ruhsal sorunu olan bireyin bulunması, öğrencilerin tutumları üzerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde bir farklılık oluşturmamıştır (p>0.05).

This research has been carried out to assess the attitudes of final- [year] students of school of nursing taking the Mental Health and Psychiatry Nursing course towards individuals with mental problems before taking the course, after taking the theoretical background of the course and after carrying out the applied part of the course. Scope of the research included senior students of Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences School of Nursing (114). A sample was not determined and all the students taking the Mental Health and Psychiatry Nursing course, and assenting to participate were included in the research (86). Research data was collected by using a Questionnaire Form and "Attitudes Towards Mental Illness Scale" developed by Isikli (1998). In the assessment of the data, Repeated Reasurement of Variance Analysis and Mann-Whitney U test were used. Attitudes changed positively both at the end of the theoretical part of the course and after carrying out the applied part of the course at statistically significant levels (p<0.05). In addition, attitudes of the students who met individuals with mental health problems before, and younger students (19-22 [year]s old) were determined to be more positive than the others at statistically significant levels (p<0.05). Having a family member with a mertfal health problem did not present a statistically significant difference on the attitudes of the students (p>0.05).
