Şizofreni toplumsal, ekonomik ve duygusal maliyeti çok ağır olan ciddi bir ruhsal bozukluktur. Sağaltımda ilaç kullanımı ile birlikte, bireysel, grup tedavilerinin ve rehabilitasyon çalışmalarının da yeri önemlidir. Tüm ruhsal hastalıklarda olduğu gibi şizofrenide de iyileştirici ve/veya koruyucu ruh sağlığı açısından hastanın yakın çevresi ve ailesi içindeki kişilerle ilişki ve etkileşimin de tanınıp düzeltilmesinin sağaltımda başlıca koşullardan biri olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Bu konuşmada Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Psikiyatri Anabilim Dalı’nda bir grup şizofreni hastası ve aile bireyleri ile yapılan sanatla terapi grup uygulamalarının sonuçları sunulacak ve sanatla terapinin şizofreni hastalarının sağaltımındaki yeri üzerine kuramsal bilgi verilecektir.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder with high economical cost and psychological distress. Personal or group therapies and rehabilitation practices are important treatment modalities besides medication. It is accepted that, for patients with schizophrenia (as well as for all patients with mental disorders), in order to achieve a better treatment result and for a better preventative approach, it is important to define and improve the communication and relation of the patients with their family members and other people whom they are in close relation. In this presentation, the theorical knowledge on art therapy and the results of an art therapy study that was performed with a group of patients with schizophrenia and their family members in the Medical Faculty of Uludag University, Department of Psychiatry, will be given.
