Bir olayda suç ve ceza sorumluluğu, yapılan davranışın yasalarda suç olarak kabul edilip edilmediğine bağlıdır. Yasalarda suç sayılmayan bir davranışa ceza verilemez. Hekimlerin birinci görevi ruhsal ve bedensel olarak hastayı iyileştirmek ve zarar vermemektir. Hekim sorumluluğunun temelini oluşturan temel öge, hekimlik ile ilgili davranışların yasal ve etik sınırlar içerisinde yapılması gerekliliğidir. Bu sunumda, hekimler için nelerin yapılması veya yapılmamasının suç oluşturacağı ile ilgili genel tıp ve psikiyatri özelinde, sorumluluğun ana hatları anlatılacaktır.

Offence and responsibility of punishment in a situation depends on whether this situation is accepted offence among law or not. No behavior might be punished unless the behavior is accepted as offence in law. One of the principal roles of the clinicians is to improve the patient mentally and somatically. The basic element of the responsibility in clinicians is to practice in accordance with law and ethical borders. In the current presentation, the main principals of responsibility, does and does not that might lead offence in general and particularly psychiatry practice will be discussed.
