Çocukluk çağı nörogelişimsel bozukluklarının (otistik bozukluk, dikkat eksikliği/hiperaktivite bozukluğu, zeka geriliği) tanısının konması değerlendirme aşamalarından sadece ilkidir. Bu grup bozuklukların çok yönlü ve karmaşık doğası, tıbbi incelemeleri de gerekli kılmaktadır. Ancak her olguya aynı rutin tıbbi değerlendirme yerine, hangi tetkikin kimden ve ne zaman istenmesi gerektiğini bilmek ve bu doğrultuda karar vermek hem çocuğun, hem de ailenin yararına olacaktır. Bunun yanında ilaç tedavilerine başlamadan önce ve sonrasında istenmesi gereken incelemeler de farklılık göstermektedir. Bu sunumda hemogram, ağır metaller (kurşun, bakır gibi), eser elementler (magnezyum, selenyum gibi), ferritin-demir, karaciğer işlev testleri, tiroid işlev testleri, EEG, QEEG, EKG, beyin görüntüleme, nörolojik muayene, işitme testleri ve genetik incelemenin ne zaman gerekli olduğu tartışılacaktır.

The diagnosis of a childhood neurodevelopmental disorder (autistic disorder, attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, mental retardation) is only the first step of the clinical assessment. The multifactorial and complex nature of this group of disorders make necessary to perform medical evaluation. On the other hand, it is crucial to choose the mandatory analyses for the child than performing the same tests routinely to every case. In addition, there are different laboratory work-up before and after the initiation of pharmacotherapy. In this lecture, the importance of medical analyses including hemogram, heavy metals, ferritin-serum iron, liver functioning tests, thyroid functioning tests, EEG, QEEG, EKG, brain imaging, neurological examination, auditory tests and genetic counseling during the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders will be discussed according to clinical view and latest literature.
