İşitme kaybı ile yaygın gelişimsel bozukluk belirtileri birlikte gözlendiğinde, yaygın gelişimsel bozukluk tanısı konulması güçtür. Bu yazıda işitme kaybı ve yaygın gelişimsel bozukluk belirtileri gözlenen bir olguda tanı konulması ile ilgili ilkelerin tartışılması amaçlanmıştır. Konuyla ilgili yayınlar taranmış, sonrasında olgu yazın ışığında tartışılmıştır. 3 yaş 3 aylık erkek çocuğunda işitme kaybı, insanlarla ili.ki kurmama, göz temasının olmaması, tekrarlayıcı davranışlar ve garip yüz mimikleri belirtileri mevcuttu. Yapılan klinik görüşme ve gözlemler sonucunda, işitme kaybı olan olguya yaygın gelişimsel bozukluk-başka türlü adlandırılmayan tanısı konmuştur.

Pervasive developmental disorders are particularly difficult to diagnose in the presence of deafness. In this paper, the diagnostic process in a child with deafness, who had also symptoms of pervasive deveopmental disorders, was discussed. The related articles were detected in medline. After that, the case was discussed in the light of the literature. The case was a three [year] and three [month]-old boy who had severe hearing loss, limited communication, poor eye contact, stereotyped behaviours, and mannerism. The case with deafness was diagnosed pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified with clinical interview, observation, and examination.
