Amaç: Bu yazıda amaç gelişimsel psikopatolojinin dayandığı temelleri gözden geçirmektir. Ruhsal gelişim sürecinin anlaşılmasında birçok bilim alanının birlikte çalışması gereklidir. Bu alanlardan gelen verilerin sentezi ve kullanılan yaklaşımlar bu yazıda özetlenmiştir. Yöntem: Gelişimsel psikopatoloji ruhsal gelişim sürecini anlamada kullanılabilecek bir bakı. açısı olarak ilk kez 1970’lerde Rutter tarafından gündeme getirilmiştir. Temelde biyolojik bir bakı. açısı içeren bu yaklaşım gelişim sürecine genel sistemler kuramı çerçevesinden bakmayı ve patolojik gelişim süreçleri ile normal gelişim süreçlerini birlikte ele almayı amaçlar. Bu yaklaşım ruhsal gelişimi yaşamboyu süren bir süreç olarak ele alır ve bireysel farklılıklar olabileceğini kabul eder. Ruhsal yapının bile.enlerinin genetik ve çevre etkile.imi içerisinde nasıl geliştiğini inceler. Risk etmenlerini ve koruyucu etmenleri birlikte ele almak gereğini ortaya koyar. Çocuk ve eri.kin psikopatolojisi arasındaki ili.kiler ve bu ili.kilerde görülen devamlılık ve devamsızlıklar temel araştırma alanlarından birisini oluşturur. Rutter’ın bu yaklaşımını özetlediği çalışmalar ve konferanslardan alıntılar bu yazının temel noktasını oluşturmuştur. Sonuç: Gelişimsel psikopatolojinin yaklaşımını kavramak çocuk ve ergen psikiyatristlerinin değerlendirmedeçok boyutlu bir bakı. açısı kazanmasını sağlayacaktır. Bu tür bir yaklaşım aynı zamanda çocuklarda görülen ruhsal sorunları çözümlemede hangi noktalar üzerinde durulması gerektiği konusunda da bir çerçeve çizmesi açısından yararlı olacaktır.

Objective: The aim of this article is to review the basic tenets of developmental psychopathology. Different scientific disciplines have to work together to understand the process of mental development. This article aims to summarize the ways of synthesising data from different research areas. Method: Developmental psychopathology is a term that was first introduced by Rutter in 1970’s as a way of looking at developmental processes.This approach which has a biological basis looks at development in a systems theory perspective and considers both normal and abnormal developmental processess as a whole. The aim is to examine the components of devlopmental processess in a genetic and enviroment interaction context. This approach stressess the need to understand the protective and risk factors together. It examines the relations between child and adult psychopathology and looks for both continuities and discontinuities in terms of psychopathology. Rutter’s articles and conference notes that he summarizes developmental psychopathology approach form the basics of this article. Conclusion: Understanding the basics of developmental psychopathology approach will help the child and adolescent psychiatrists to acquire a multidimensional perspective . This kind of approach will also be helpful therapy.
