Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, yurt dışında okul-öncesi çocuklarda yaygın olarak kullanılan dereceleme ve sınıflandırma yöntemlerini güvenirlik ve geçerlik gibi psikometrik özellikler açısından değerlendirmek ve çeşitli özelliklerini belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmaya dört anaokulundan 107 çocuk katılmıştır (Kız=53; Erkek=54; Yaş X=60.2 ay ss=9.4). Her iki sosyometrik yönteme ili.kin bilgiler çocuklardan alınmıştır; öğretmenler de sınıflarındaki her çocuk için Okul-öncesi davranış ölçeğini doldurmuşlardır. Bulgular: Bulgular, her iki yöntemin de kullanılabileceğini göstermekle birlikte, dereceleme yönteminin, sınıflandırma yöntemine göre güvenirlik ve geçerlik özelliklerinin daha güçlü olduğu konusunda ipuçları vermektedir. Tartışma: Sosyometrik yöntemler okul-öncesi dönemden itibaren dışlanan çocukları belirleme ve müdahale çalışmalarında kullanılabilir.

Objective: The aim of this research is to assess and identify the different psychometric properties of two sociometric methods, namely rating and nomination methods in preschool children. Method: A total of 107 children, attending four preshool educational institutions, participated in the study (Girls=53; Boys=54; age X=60.2 [month]s sd=9.4). The information were acquired by applying the two methods to children. The teachers filled in the Pre-school behaviour checklist for each child in their classes. Results: Even though the findings imply that both methods could be used in studying preschool children's peer relationship, the psychometric properties of the rating method seems to be more favoruable than the nomination method. Conclusions: Sociometric methods could be used both to identify and intervene unpopular children in the preschool period.
