Amaç: Bu çalışmada, Obsesif Kompulsif Bozukluk (OKB) tanısı konan çocuk ve ergenlerdeki sosyodemografik ve klinik özelliklerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: 1984-1994 yılları arasında Hacettepe Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Ruh Sağlığı bölümüne obsesif-kompulsif belirtilerle başvuran çocuk ve ergenlerin dosyaları incelenmiş ve DSM-IV’de tanımlanan OKB tanı ölçütlerini karşılayan 125 çocuk ve ergen, demografik ve klinik özellikler açısından değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Bulgular: Başvuru tarihinde yaş ortalaması 11.7 ± 3.2 yıl (3-18 yıl ) olan 125 hastanın 71’inin (%56.8) erkek, 54’ünün (%43.2) kız olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Hastaların %71.2’sinde OKB’a eşlik eden anksiyete ve duygulanım bozukluğu gibi psikiyatrik sorunların olduğu gözlenmiştir. Hastaların %48’inde obsesyonlar, %91.2’sinde kompulsiyonlar olduğu, hastaların yaklaşık yarısında sadece kompulsiyonlar (%52) ve çok az bir bölümünde sadece obsesyonlar (%8.8) olduğu; geri kalan hastalarda ise (%39.2) obsesyon ve kompulsiyonların birlikte görüldüğü saptanmıştır. En sık görülen obsesyonların kendisine ya da sevdiklerine kötü bir şey olacağı obsesyonu olduğu, bunu temizlik ile ilgili obsesyonların izlediği; en sık görülen kompulsiyonların ise yıkama ve temizleme ile ilgili kompülsiyonlar olduğu bulunmuştur. Tartışma: Bu çalışmada 125 hastadan oluşan oldukça geniş bir grupta OKB tanısı alan çocuk ve ergenlere ait sosyodemografik ve klinik veriler retrospektif olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın geriye dönük bir desende olması nedeniyle bazı değişkenlerin yeterince ayrıntılı ele alınamaması gibi kısıtlılıklara karşın, nozolojik araştırmalara ışık tutabilecek veriler elde edilmiştir.

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the sociodemographical and clinical characteristics of clinically referred children and adolescents with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Method: For this purpose the clinical records of children and adolescents who were admitted to the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the 1984-1994 period were reviewed. Among them 125 children and adolescents who fulfilled the DSM- IV criteria for OCD were examined. Results: The 125 subjects, 71 boys (56.8%) and 54 girls (43.2%) had a mean age of 11.7+3.2 [year]s at admission. Seventy one percent of subjects received comorbid diagnosis of other psychiatric disorders particularly anxiety and affective disorders. It is found that 48% of the patients had obsessions and 91.2% had compulsions. While 52% of subjects showed only compulsions and 8.8% showed only obsessions, 39.2% had both of them. The most frequent obsessive content was the thought of something terrible happening (death/illness of self or loved one) followed by concern about dirt and the most common form of compulsion was washing-cleaning. Discussion: In this study sociodemographical and clinical features of 125 patients with OCD were examined retrospectively. Although some features could not be evaluated in detail because of the retrospective design, the results of this study can contribute to further developments in the nosological area.
