İnsanların yaşamlarını başarılı şekilde devam ettirebilmeleri dikkat miktarı ile ilişkilidir. Bilinçlilik, algı, karar verme, düşünme, öğrenme, bellek ve dil ile yakından ilişkili olan dikkat, çok boyutlu bir kavramdır. Dikkat, genellikle başka şeyleri dışta bırakıp bir şey üzerine seçici şekilde odaklanma süreci olarak tanımlansa da bölünebilirlik özelliği taşımaktadır. Dikkat teorileri bağlamında anlaşılmaya çalışılan dikkatin bileşenleri odaklanmış ve bölünmüş dikkat görevleri ile araştırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada dikkat kavramı, dikkat teorileri bağlamında tartışılmıştır.

The ability of surviving successfully in human beings is related to the amount of attention. Atten­tion is not a unitary but a multidimensional concept; therefore it is closely related to higher order cognitive processes such as consciousness, perception, decision-making, thinking, learning, me­mory and [language]. In general, attention is a cognitive process concentrating selectively on one thing while ignoring others. In addition to the ability of sustaining to focus on one activity, it can also be divided. The researchers who focused on divided and focused attention tasks mention the components of attention in the context of attention theories. In this paper, the concept of atten­tion has been discussed in the context of these theories.
