Amaç: Psoriasis geri dönüşümlü epidermal proliferasyon ve inflamasyonla karakterize bir deri hastalığıdır.
Psoriasis düşük benlik saygısı, cinsel işlev bozukluğu, anksiyete, depresyon, alkol kullanım bozuklukları ve
intihar düşüncesi ile ilişkili bulunmuştur. Bu araştırmada psoriasis hastalarında alkol kullanımı ve intihar olasılığının
araştırılması amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırma Celal Bayar Üniversitesi Hastanesi Dermatoloji Polikliniği'ne başvuran hastalar üzerinde
yürütülmüştür, ardışık 82 psoriasisli hasta ile ardışık 88 diğer dermatolojik hastalığı olan iki hasta grubu
araştırma örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Hastalar Hamilton Depresyon Ölçeği, Michigan Alkolizm Tarama Testi,
İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği ve sosyodemografik özellikleri sorgulayan bir görüşme formu kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.
Bulgular: Bu araştırmada alkol kullanımı açısından psoriasisli hasta grubu ile diğer dermatolojik hasta grubu
arasında farklılık olmadığı saptanmıştır (p=0.335). Psoriasisli hastalarda Hamilton Depresyon Ölçeği puanlarının
daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.001). İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği'ne göre psoriasisli hastaların
ölçek puan ortalamasının kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı şekilde yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır (p=0.004).
Sonuç: Psoriasis hastalarında psikiyatrik bozukluklar özellikle depresyon ve intihar girişimleri önemlidir.
Psoriasis tedavisinde psikiyatrik tedavi yaklaşımları da önemli olabilir.

Objective: Psoriasis is a skin disease characterized by reversibl epidermal proliferation and inflammation. Psoriasis is associated with a variety
of psychological problems, including poor self esteem, sexual dysfunction, anxiety, depression, alcohol use disorders and suicidal ideation. In
this study, it is aimed to investigate alcohol use and suicide probability in psoriasis patients.
Method: The total sample was consisted of psoriasis patients group (n=82) and other dermatological patients group (n=88) consecutively
admitted to the Celal Bayar University Hospital Dermatology Department. The patients were assessed with the Hamilton Depression Scale, the
Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test, the Suicide Probability Scale and a data form for recording sociodemographic characteristics.
Results: It is found that the two groups didn?t differ significantly in terms of alcohol use (p=0.335). The Hamilton Depression Scala scores of
the psoriasis patients group was statistically much higher than the Hamilton Depression Scala scores of the other dermatological patients group
(p<0.001). The Suicide Probability Scale scores of the psoriasis patients group was statistically higher than the Suicide Probability Scale scores
of the other dermatological patients group (p=0.004).
Conclusion: It is important presence of psychiatric disorders among psoriasis patients, especially depression and suicide ideation. Psychiatric
treatment may have important in the management of psoriasis.
