Ayaktan Takip Edilen Şizofreni Hastalarında Cinsiyetin Sosyodemografik Veriler ve Klinik Özelliklerle İlişkisi

Amaç: Bu çalışmada şizofrenide cinsiyet farklılığı ile klinik ve sosyodemografik veriler arasındaki ilişkinin
incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Çalışma kapsamına DSM'i V tanı ölçütlerini karşılayan 274 (161 erkek, 113 kadın) hasta alınmıştır.
Hastaların verileri dosyaların geriye dönük taranması ile elde edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Her iki cinsiyet arasında hastalığın ortalama başlangıç yaşı, hastaneye ortalama yatış sayısı, ortalama
depreşme sayısı, eğitim durumları açısından fark saptanmazken, kadın hasta grubunda evlilik oranlarının,
antidepresan ve duygu durumu düzenleyicisi kullanma oranlarının daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Paranoid
tip şizofreni her iki cinsiyette yüksek bulunmuştur.
Tartışma ve Sonuç: Kadın hasta grubunda evlilik oranlarının daha yüksek olması kadın hastaların daha fazla
toplumsal destek alması ile ilişkili olabilir. Kadın hastalarda duygu durumu değişikliklerinin toplumsal destek
sayesinde yakından izlenmesi ve buna bağlı olarak duygu durumu düzenleyicilerinin ve antidepresanların
kadın hasta grubunda yüksek bulunması ve kadın hasta grubunda erkek hasta grubuna göre antipsikotik
kullanma süresinin daha uzun olması sıkça sözü edilen toplumsal destekle ilişkili olabilir.
The Relationship Between Gender and Clinical and Sociodemographic Features of Outpatient with Schizophrenia
Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between gender and the sociodemographic and clinical features of the
outpatient schizophrenic patients.
Method: 274 patients (161 men, 113 women) who met the DSM-IV criteria for diagnosis of schizophrenia were enrolled to the study. The
data of the patients were obtained from the patient files retrospectively.
Findings: No statistical significance was found between genders in terms of mean onset of the disorder, mean number of hospitalization due
to schizophrenia, mean number of psychotic episodes, concomitant psychiatric disorder and educational status. Rates of depot antipsychotic,
benzodiazepine and anticholinergic use, rate of multiple antipsychotic administration and the type of antipsychotics used in medication did
not differ between genders. Among the subtypes of schizophrenia, paranoid subtype was found higher in both genders. However, rates of
marriage and the rates of antidepressant and mood stabiliser use were found higher in women.
Conclusion: High rates of marriage in women compared to men may be attributed to social advantages of women. Moreover, fluctuations in
mood can intimately be observed by the relatives of the female patients that may lead to higher rates of antidepressant and mood stabiliser use
in women. In addition, longer duration of recently prescribed antipsychotic use in women may also be a consequence of social support.
