Amaç: Travma sonrası stres bozukluğu tanısı ilk olarak 1980 yılında DSM-III ile resmi tanı kategorisi haline gelmiş ve DSM-IV’te de bazı değişikliklerle yer almıştır. ICD-10 tanı sınıflamasında da travma sonrası stres bozukluğu tanısı bazı farklarla yer almaktadır. Bu yazıda, çocuklarda ve ergenlerdeki travma sonrası stres bozukluğu tanısının tarihsel, kavramsal, klinik özellikler ve önerilen sağaltım yöntemleri açısından tartışılması amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Bu amaca yönelik olarak, konuya ilişkin olarak şimdiye kadar yayınlanmış ve bulunan toplam 61 kaynak gözden geçirilmiştir. Bulgular: Travma sonrası stres bozukluğu çocuk ve ergenlerde özgün ve çeşitli dışavurumlarla kendini gösterebilir. Bu nedenle bu popülasyon grubunda olanlardaki belirti ve bulgular konusunda uyanık ve dikkatli olmak gerekir. Sağaltım yöntemleri içinde hem ilaç sağaltımının hem de psikoterapinin yeri bulunmaktadır, fakat çoğunlukla psikoterapi birincil sağaltım yöntemi olarak kabul görmektedir. Sonuç: Bu konuda daha kapsamlı çalışmalara gereksinim duyulmakta ise de bugüne kadar oldukça zengin bir veri birikiminde de sağlandığı görülmektedir.

Objective: Post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis has come into use as a formal diagnostic category in 1980 by DSM-III; and it kept its place with some changes in DSM-IV. Post-traumatic stress disorder diagnostic category can also be seen in ICD-10 with some diffrences from the posttraumatic stress disorder diagnosis of DSM-IV. This paper aims to discuss historical, conceptual and clinical aspects of and proposed treatment methods for the posttraumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents. Method: For the above mentioned purpose, 61 publications have been reviewed. Results: Posttraumatic stress disorder might be manifested in specific and various forms in children and adolescents. For this reason, one have to be alert and observant for the signs and symptoms seen in this population. Drug treatments and psychotherapy both have places in the treatment of the disorder but psychotherapy in generally accepted as the primary treatment method. Conclusion: Although more comprehensive studies are needed, it seems that quite rich data had been accumulated until today.
