Glokom tedavisinde topikal beta bloker yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada amacımız glokomlu hastalarda topikal beta bloker kullanımı sonrası depresif bozukluk gelişimi ve tedaviyi tartışmaktır. Önceden depresyon epizo­du olmayan ve bir topikal beta bloker olan betaksolol kullanımından sonra depresif bozukluk gelişen 37 yaşındaki kadın olgu değerlendirildi. Glokom tedavisi için kullanılan topikal beta blokerin 4. gününde depresif yakınmaları başlamıştı. Hastanın depresif şikayetleri topikal beta bloker kesildikten sonra hızla düzelmeye başladı. Depresif şikayetleri için ilave bir tedavi gerekmedi. Glokom tedavisinde kullanılan beta blokerler depresif bozukluk ile ilişkili olabilir. Bu nedenle topikal beta bloker kullanan hastalar dikkatle takip edilip depresif bozukluğunun gelişimi önlenebilir.

Topical beta blockers are commonly used in glaucoma treatment. The aim of this study is to discuss the development of the depression after the usage of topical beta blocker and treatment in glaucoma patients. Thirty seven [year]-old woman who had no episode of depression previously was evaluated after the usage of topical beta blocker. Complaints of depression appeared on the 4th day of the topical beta blocker for glaucoma. Complaints of the patient diminished quickly after the interruption of the topical beta blocker. An additional treatment was not needed for depression. Depression may be related with the use of the topical beta blockers which are used in glaucoma patients. Therefore, development of depression can be prevented in patients who use topical beta blocker with a careful follow-up
