Amaç: Bu çalışmada DSM-IV (APA 1994) tanı ölçütlerine göre Gilles de la Tourette Sendromu (GTS) tanısı konan hastalarda obsesif kompulsif (OKB) birlikteliğinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: GTS tanısı konan 40 çocuk ve ergene Yale Tik Ağırlığını Değerlendirme Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca bu çocuk ve ergenlerde OKB'u değerlendirmek için DSM-IV tanı ölçütleri, Maudsley Obsesif Kompulsif Soru Listesi kullanılmıştır. Aile öyküsü ve sosyo-demografik özellikler hazırlanan bir form ile sorgulanmış,ulaşılabilen akrabalar DSM-IV tanı ölçütlerine göre taranmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan 40 çocuk ve ergenin %37.5'inde OKB ve %15'inde obsesif kompulsif semptomlar saptanmıştır. Yakın akrabalarda OKB görülme oranı %15 olarak belirlenmiştir.. Tartışma: OKB'un GTS ile birlikte görülme oranı yüksek bulunmuştur. Bu nedenle OKB birlikteliğinin saptanması tedavinin planlanması, okul ve yaşama ilişkin sorunların daha kolay çözümlenmesi açısından önemlidir.

Objective:The purpose of this study is to investigate the incidence of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in patients with Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS) according to DSM-IV criteria. Method: For this purpose the Yale Global Tic Sverity Scale and Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder scale were administered to 40 children and adoelscents with GTS: A questionnaire that is including family history and demographic characteristics were administered to their family and some of them were examined according to DSM-IV criteria. Results: 37.5% of the subjects met the DSM-IV diagnosis criteria for OCD and 15% of the subjects had obsessive compulsive symptoms. Findings showed that relatives had 15% of the OCD. Conclusion: There was a significantly greater incidence of OCD in the patients with the GTS. This comorbidity is important for the treatment and solution of the school and social life problems.
