İki uçlu duygudurum bozukluğunun sağaltımında farmakotera-pinin tam olarak yeterli olmadığı görüldükçe, psikososyal girişimlerin sağaltıma eklenmesi giderek daha çok gündeme gelmektedir. Bu makalede iki uçlu duygudurum bozukluğunun sağaltımında kullanılmak üzere geliştirilmiş özgün girişimlerle ilgili çalışmalar özetlenecektir. Bunların nasıl bir psikososyal tablonun sağaltımına yönelik olduğunun daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi amacıyla, bipolar bir hasta olmanın nasıl yaşantılar oluşturduğu, ne tür kayıplara yol açtığı, damgalanmanın psikososyal süreci nasıl etkilediği, bipolar bir hastanın yakını olmanın nasıl birşey olduğu gibi konular ve bütün bunların sağaltıma ve hastalığın gidişine etkileri kuramsal bir zemin üzerinde ve kısa klinik örnekler eşliğinde ele alınıp tartışılacaktır.

Since it has been realized that pharmacotherapy alone was insufficient in the treatment of bipolar disorder, adjunctive psychosocial interventions became one of the current foci of attention. Studies on specific interventions for bipolar disorder are summarized in this article. The author also elaborates on issues such as what kind of experience bipolar disorder creates, what losses it leads to, how stigmatization contributes to psychosocial course, how it feels like being a significant other of a bipolar patient. These issues and their effects on the treatment and course of the illness will be discussed on theoretical background and with short clinical vignettes in order to explain the rationale for developing and investigating psychosocial interventions.
