Ventrikülo-peritoneal şantlı çocuklarda başağrısı, kusma ve irritabilite semptom "triad"ı seyrek olmayarak gözlenen bir durumdur. Bu çocuklarda, öncelikle, şantın çalışmadığını düşünmek doğaldır. Ancak, yine bu çocuklarda seyrek olmayarak görülen epileptik tezahürlere ve/veya başkaca etkileşimlere bağlı olarak ta benzer semptomatoloji ortaya çıkabilir. Nitekim, biz burada, böyle çocukların geniş bir pespektiften değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini vurgulamak amacı ile, aynı semptom "triad"ı ile başvuran şantlı hidrosefali ve epilepsili bir çocukta gelişen uygunsuz antidiüretik hormon sendromunu özetleyeceğiz.

lt is not an uncommon phenomena for children with a ventricula-peritoneal shunt to experience a "triad" of symptoms such as headache, vomiting, and irritability. Appropriately, the first diagnostic consideration in this subset of patients should be the presence of any shunt malfunction. In this report, we deseribe a child with a shunted hydrocephalus who presented with the above symptomatology which occurred in association with the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion.
