Genel tıbbın bir dalı olarak psikiyatri için gerek sınıflandırma gerekse güvenilir ve geçerli yöntemlerle kesin bir tanı koyma sürecine uyum sağlamak kolay olmamıştır. Kişilik Bozuklukları özellikte iki alanda tanımsal (deskriptif) psikiyatrinin yumuşak kamını oluşturmaktadır, tiki bu bozukluklarda hastalık-rahatsızlık ikileminin çözümünün güçlüğü, diğeri kişilik bozukluklarının yüzey, tanısal ve kültürel geçerliklerinin düşük olmasıdır

It has not been easy for psychiatry, as a branch of general medicine to adapt the 'strictly diagnose and classify with a valid and reliable instrument' procedure. Personality disorders (PD) appear to be the major focus of this problem in two ways; Solution of the disease-illness dilemma is not easy in PD and the face, diagnostic and cultural validities are low.
