Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Ferrans ve Powers'in Yaşam Kalitesi Diyaliz III En­deksi adlı ölçeğinin (YKE -Diyaliz III) Türkçeleştirilmesi ve güvenirlik ile geçerlik bulgularını elde etmektir.
Yöntem: Örneklem birinde 31 üniversite öğrencisi ve diğerinde 31 diyaliz hasta­sı olmak üzere iki gruptan oluşmaktadır. Hasta grubunun yaş ortalaması 45.7 olup (K=15, E=16) ortalama diyalizden geçme süresi 5.1 yıl'dır. Enfekte hastalar ör­nekleme dahil edilmemiştir. Öğrenci grubunun yaş ortalaması 22.7 dır (K=26, E= 5). Geçerlik çalışması için diyaliz hastalarına ayrıca sağlık kalitesini ölçen SF-36 ve Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE) uygulanmıştır.
Bulgular: Güvenirlik çalışması kapsamında hem öğrenci grubu, hem de SSK'ya bağlı bir diyaliz merkezinde haftada 3 kere diyalizden geçen hastalar üzerinde YKE-Diyaliz III versiyonunun test-tekrartest uygulaması yapılmıştır. Test-tekrar test korelasyonları sırasıyla öğrenci ve diyaliz grubunda (r=.90 ve .65, p<.01) ola­rak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin iç tutarlık kapsamında alfa değerleri öğrencilerde .90 ve hasta grubunda .92'dir. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliğini sınamak için BDE ile kore­lasyonuna bakılmış ve negatif yönde bir korelasyon olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrı­ca toplam YKE puanının SF-36'nın alt ölçekleri olan PF (Fiziksel eylemler), GH (Genel sağlık algısı), RP (Fiziksel sağlığa bağlı olarak rollerde engellenme), RE (Duygusal problemlere bağlı olarak rollerde engellenme), VT (Yaşam enerjisi), BP (Bedensel acı) ile pozitif yönde korelasyonları envanterin eş zaman geçer­liği hakkında bilgi vermektedir.
Tartışma: Elde edilen veriler, testin orijinal versiyonunda olduğu gibi kabul edi­lebilir düzeyde güvenirliğe (Test-tekrar test ve iç tutarlık ) sahip olduğunu gös­termiştir. Ferrans ve Powers'in Diyaliz III versiyonunun (YKE) ülkemizde artan sayıda açılan diyaliz ünitelerinde, sağlık psikolojisi alanında çalışan psikologla­rın hastaların yaşam kalitelerini değerlendirmelerinde yararlanılabilecekleri uy­gun bir araç olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to translate Ferrans & Powers's Qu­ality of life index (QLI, Dialysis Version III) intoturkish and to work on its reliabi­lity and validity.
Method: The sample of the study consisted of 31 university students and 31 di­alysis patients. There were 15 women and 16 men in the dialysis group , with a mean age of 45.7. Mean dialysis duration was 5,1 [year]s. The infected patients were not included in the study. The mean age of the students was 22.7 (26 wo­men, 5 men). For validity study of the scale, the patients additionally were gi­ven SF-36 Quality of Life Index and Beck Depression Inventory (BDE). Results: As in the original reliability study of the scale test-retest study has be­en done both with university students, and patients in a dialysis center within a time interval of 4 weeks. The test-retest correlations were as follows respecti­vely in the student and the dialysis group: (r=.90 and .65, p<.01). To learn about the internal consistency of the scale alfa values were obtained, they were .90 in students and .92 in patients. For the construct validity of the scale the corre­lation with BDE was calculated and a significant negative correlation was fo­und amaong them. There were also significant positive correlations between YKE and six SF-36 sub scales; namely PF (physical actions), GH (general he­alth perceptions), RP (role limitations due to physical health problems), RE (ro­le limitations due to emotional problems), VT (vitality), BP (bodily pain) which al­together indicate the concurrent validity of the scale. Conclusion: The findings of the study suggests that turkish Ferrans and Po­wers's QLI Dialysis III version (YKE), has both high internal reliability and test-retest reliability. The findings also reveal that the scale had high concurrent and the construct validity and can be used asan appropriate tool for the evalu­ation of quality of life in the field of health psychology.
