Amaç: Bu araştırmada Mitral Kapak Prolapsusu (MKP) veya başka bir kardiyolojik sorunu olmayan Eklem Hipermobilite Sendromu (EHS) olan olgularda anksiyete bozukluklarının araştırılması amaç­lanmıştır.
Yöntem: Araştırmaya EHS olan, ancak kardiyolojik sorunu olmayan 44 (ortalama yaş: 22.05±1.3 yıl) ve EHS olmayan 30 normal erkek (ortalama yaş: 21.93±1.6 yıl) kontrol grubu olarak alınmıştır. Eklem hareketlilik düzeyleri bir ortopedi uzmanı tarafından Beighton Ölçeği kullanılarak değer­lendirilmiştir. MVP ve başka bir kardiyak bozukluğu olan olgular dışlanmıştır. SCID-I ile eksen I bo­zuklukları, Hamilton Anksiyete Ölçeği ile anksiyete dereceleri saptanmıştır. İstatistiksel analizler t testi ve Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılarak yapılmıştır.
Bulgular: EHS olan olguların %27.3'ünde Panik Bozukluğu, %9.Tinde Somatizasyon Bozukluğu, %4.5'inde Yaygın Anksiyete Bozukluğu, %4.5'inde Başka Türlü Adlandırılamayan Anksiyete Bo­zukluğu olmak üzere %45.5'inde bir anksiyete bozukluğu bulunmuş, kontrol grubunun ise %86.7'si psikiyatrik tanı almazken, %6.7'sinde Panik Bozukluğu ve %6.7'sinde de Anksiyöz Duygu-durumlu Uyum Bozukluğu saptanmış ve 2 grup arasında farklılık bulunmuştur (z:-2,175, p<.05). EHS olanlarda Hamilton anksiyete derecesi (21.50±13) kontrol grubundan (14.33±1) yüksek bulun­muştur (t:-2.525, p<.01).
Tartışma: EHS olan grubun anksiyete derecesi EHS olmayanlara göre anlamlı oranda yüksek bu­lunmuştur. Bu durum EHS olanların daha anksiyöz olduklarını göstermektedir. Ayrıca EHS olan ol­guların %45,5'i, EHS olmayan kontrol grubunun 4'ü DSM IV TR'ye göre bir anksiyete bozukluğu tanısı almış olması, anksiyete bozukluğu ile EHS arasında güçlü bağlantı olduğuna işaret eden ça­lışmalarla uyumludur.
Sonuçlar: EHS olan erkek olgularda anksiyetenin şiddeti ve anksiyete bozuklukları sağlıklı popü-lasyona göre yükseklik göstermektedir.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine of anxiety disorders at cases of joint hyper-mobility syndrome (JHS) without Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP) or any other cardiologic problems. Method: Forty-four patients (22.05±1.3 [year]s) with JHS and any cardiologic problems were evalu­ated and 30 normal individuals (21.93±1.6 [year]s) without JHS were taken as a control group. All subjects were selected from cases having completed their compulsory military service. Their joint mobility levels were evaluated by an orthopaedist, using the Beighton scoring method at which 5 points and more were accepted as positive for joint hypermobility. All cases were subjected to SCID-I and axis I disorders and Hamilton Anxiety Scale by a psychiatrist after which their anxiety di­sorders and anxiety levels were determined. The results of this study were compared by using the Mann-Whitney-U-test.
Findings: Among patients having joint hypermobility syndrome. Panic Disorder was observed in 27.3%, Somatization Disorder in 9.1%, Generalized Anxiety Disorder in 4.5%, and Anxiety Not Ot­herwise Specified in 4.5%. While 86.7% of the control group did not take any diagnosis. Panic Di­sorder was observed in 6.7% and findings of Adjustment Disorder with Anxious Mood in 6.7%. At subjects with joint hypermobility, the Hamilton Anxiety Scale and Beighton Scores (21.50±13 and 6.45±1) significantly differed (t:-2,525 and -17,489 p<.01) from the control group (14.33±10 and 1.76±1). Discussion: Anxiety scores of the group with JHS have been found significantly higher than the group without JHS. This finding shows that the group with JHS is relatively more anxious than
the group without JHS. In addition, 45.5% of cases with JHS and 4% of cases without JHS were diagnosed
with anxiety disorder according to the criteria of DSM IV TR. Results are in accordance
with studies that pointed out to the close relations between JHS and anxiety disorders.
Conclusion: Anxiety disorders and especially Panic Disorder are observed widespread on patients
with joint hypermobility.
