John Bowlby'nin, erken dönem bebek-bakım veren ilişkisine odaklanan bağlanma kuramı, psikanalitik gelenekten doğ­muş olmasına karşın bebeğin fantezi dünyasından çok dış dünyadaki gerçek İlişkiye atfettiği önem bakımından, anayol psikanalitik ekolden ayrılmıştır. Söz konusu kuramı temel alan bu derlemede, güvenli ve güvensiz bağlanma örüntü-lerinin, duygulanım düzenleme ve bellek organizasyonu süreçlerindeki etkileri ele alınmıştır. Farklı bağlanma örüntü-lerinin, ileriki yıllarda da temsili olarak sürdürülmesi rolünü üstlenen "içsel işleyen modeller"in gelişim süreçleri, psikonörobiyolojik yaklaşım çerçevesinde incelenmiş ve değiş-meye dirençli yapılar olup olmadığı araştınlmıştır. Son olarak, güvensiz bağlanma örüntülerinin değişmesinde, psikoterapinin etkisi ve işlevleri tartışılmıştır.

John Bowlby's attachment theory is focused on the nature of early child-care giver relationship. Eventhough it was bom from the psychoanalytical tradition, it has been separated from the main road psychoanalytic school with its emphasis on the outer real relationship, rather than the baby's inner phantasy world. In this review which is based on Bowlby's theory, secure and insecure attachment patterns are examined in terms of their influences on the processes of affect reg­ulation and memory organization. Developmental processes of "internal working models" which are supposed to be life­long representatives of different attachment patterns have been analysed within a psychoneurobiological approach In terms of their resistance to change. Finally, the impact and the functions of psychotherapy in altering insecure attach­ment patterns have been discussed.
