Amaç: Bu çalışmada, Güney Asya'da yaşanan deprem ve tsunami afetlerinden sonra Türkiye Kızılay Derneği'nce
SriLanka ve Endonezya'da yürütülen Psikososyal Destek Programı (PSP)'nm önemli bir parçası olan ve bir grup
Endonezya'lı öğretmene uygulanan Psikolojik İlk Yardım Eğitim Modülü (PİYEM)'in etkinliğini değerlendirmek
amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Eğitimler Kızılay PSP ekibi tarafından eğitilen yerel psikologlarla yapılmıştır. Çalışmada 279 öğretmene
ulaşılmış, 151'nin eğitim öncesi ve sonrasına ilişkin bilgileri değerlendirilmiştir. Ön ve son test soru formları PİYEM
temel alınarak hazırlanmıştır.
Bulgular: Öğretmenlerin afet sonrası gelişen ruhsal tepkileri tanıma, stresle başa çıkma, kendine yardım yollarını bilme
ve ruhsal sorunları olağan ruhsal tepkilerden ayırabilme gibi konular açısından yeterlilik algısı, bilgi, tutum ve olumlu
davranış eğilimlerinin eğitim sonrası anlamlı olarak arttığı saptanmıştır (P=.000). Öğretmenler PİY'ı afetlerden sonra
öncelikle kendilerinin yapması gereken bir uygulama olarak tanımlamışlardır.
Tartışma: Farklı bir kültür ve coğrafyada uygulanan eğitim çalışmalarının başarılı olması, Türkiye'nin afetlerle ilgili
deneyiminin yurt dışında da uygulanabilir ve sürdürülebilir olması açısından cesaret vericidir.

Objective: Following the earthquake and tsunami disasters, Turkish Red Crescent Society (TRCS) has conducted Psycholosocial Support Programme in Indonesia and Sri Langhka. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of 'Psychological First Aid Training Module (PFATM)' with a group of Indonesian teachers.
Method: Applications were done by the local psychologists who were trained by the Red Crescent Psychosocial Support Team. Seminars were applied to 279 teachers, of those 151 teachers were participated to the study and undergo test-retest assessments. Pre and post-tests were developed based on the PFATM.
Results: After the training, the teachers had the capability to increase and correct their knowledge and attitudes about the topics: being aware of disaster related psychological reactions, coping with stress, learning self-help methods and discriminating the psychological problems from the normal reactions to the abnormal events (P<.OOO). They were most­ly (84.8%) satisfied from the trainings and the trainers. PFA was reported as the primary practice of teachers after the disasters by the participants.
Conclusion: The effectiveness of training activities in a different country is encouraging for the mental health profes­sionals in Turkey to share, implement and sustain their disaster related experiences in a different culture.
