Şizofreni farklı klinik görünümler ve olasılıkla altta yatan farklı patofizyolojik süreçlerin söz konusu olduğu bir bozukluklar grubudur. Şizofreni etyolojisinin araştırılmasında fenomenolojik öğelerden yararlanılabileceği düşünülmüş. son yirmi yılda, şizofreni fenomenoloj isindeki heterojenliği azaltmaya yönelik birçok çalışma yapılmıştır. Bu yazıda, şizofreni fenomenolojisindeki heterojenliği gidermeye yönelik, özellikle de pozitif ve negatif belirtilerden yararlanan başlıca yaklaşımlar gözden geçirilmiştir.

Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous group of disorders with different clinical presentations and probably different underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. It is thought that reducing phenomenological heterogeneity could be a starting point in studying the etiology of schizophrenia. In the last two decades there have been many studies towards reducing the phenomenological heterogeneity of schizophrenia. In this article we reviewed the main approaches, especially in relation to positive and negative symptoms, that try to reduce this phenomenological heterogeneity of schizophrenia.
