Çocukluk çağı cinsel kimlik bozukluğu oldukça seyrek görüldüğü varsayılan ve güncel sınıflama sistemlerine görece yeni kabul edilen bir durumdur. Bu bozukluğa ilişkin ilk klinik veriler hermafrodit bireylerin cinsel gelişiminin incelenmesiyle başlayan, monozigot ikizlerin cinsel gelişimlerinden geçen ve cinsel kimlik bozukluğu kavramının oluşmasıyla sonuçlanan bir sürecin ürünüdür. Sonraki verilerse erişkin homoseksüel ve transeksüellerin retrospektif değerlendirilmelerinden elde edilmiştir. Tüm bu veriler çocukta cinsel kimlik bozukluğunun etyolojisine ilişkin değişik varsayımların doğmasına neden olmuştur. Bu yazıda çocukluk çağı cinsel kimlik bozukluğu tanısı almış dört olgu sunulmuş ve olgular etyolojik varsayımlar açısından değerlendirilip tartışılmıştır. Bu tartışmadan çıkan ve söz konusu olgularla sınırlı sonuçlara göre, çocukluk çağı cinsel kimlik bozukluğunun ilk belirtileri oldukça erken bir yaşta, kız ve erkek çocuklarda farklı süreçler sonunda ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bozukluğun ortaya çıkışında bir tek etkenden çok, değişik etkenlerin bileşkesi rol oynamaktadır.

Gender Identy Disorder of Childhood (GIDC) is a rare disorder recently accepted as a category under the current classification systems. The first clinical data about this disorder is a product of a process, stating with observation of sexual development of hermaphrodite individuals, going through the sexual development of monozygotic twins and resulting with the emergence of the concept of gender identy disorder. Recent data has been gathered by retrospective assessment of transsexuals and homesexuals. All these information has resulted in different approaches regarding the etiology of GIDC, in this paper, four cases of GIDC has been reported and discussed in respect of the etiogical hypotheses. Asa result, limited with these four cases, the first signs of GIDC seems to emerge at very early ages, as an end product of different processes in boys and girls. A combination of different factors, rather than one single factor, seems to be responsible for the emergence of this disorder.
