Tedaviye dirençli küçük bir grup dışında enürezis nokturna nedeniyle başvuran çocukların tedavisinde kullanılan birçok yöntem ile oldukça başarılı sonuçlar bildirilmektedir. Ancak bu yöntemlerin tedavi edici etkinlikleri araştırılırken genellikle tedavi öncesi döneme ilişkin değişkenler değerlendirme dışında bırakılmaktadır. Klinik uygulamalarımızda bir çok hastanın yakınmalarının daha ilk görüşmeye geldiklerinde, eskisine göre azaldığına ilişkin gözlemlerimiz, bizi “randuvu almanın” tedavide oynadığı rolü araştırmaya yöneltmiştir. Bu amaçla 1994 yılında Hacettepe Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Ruh Sağlığı bölümüne enürezis nokturna nedeniyle ilk kez başvuran çocuklar ileriye dönük bir araştırma deseninde incelenmiştir. Veriler, ıslatma sayısının randevu alınan günden görüşme tarihine kadar geçen 1 aylık süre içinde herhangi bir tedavi girişimi olmaksızın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde azaldığını göstermiştir. Bu azalmanın ailesinde enürezis nokturma öyküsü olmayan çocuklarda daha fazla olduğu dikkati çekmiştir.

Except a small treatment-refractory group, successful results have been reported in the treatment of enuretic children with multiple treatment modalities. While studying the efficacy of these methods, some variables about the pre-treatment phase were not taken into consideration. In our clinical practice; after observing a decrease in the symptoms of many patients even at the first interview, it was decided to study the therapeutic value of “getting an appointment” in enuresis nocturna. For this reason, the enuretic children who were referred to the Department of Child Psychiatry of Hacettepe University in 1994 were investigated in a prospective study. The findings of this study indicated that the number of dry nights increased significantly without any treatment attempts within a period of one [month] from getting an appointment to the first interview. This increase was observed more frequently in children without history of enuresis noctuma in their family.
