Narsisistik kişilik ilk psikanalitik yayınlarda tanımlanmıştır. Son yirmibeş yılda, narsisizmin fenomenoloji ve psikodinamiğine; narsisistik kişilik bozukluğunun tanı ve tedavisine yönelik büyük bir ilgi görülmektedir. Bu ilgiye rağmen, bozukluğa ilişkin ampirik veriler yeterli değildir. Bu yazıda narsisistik kişilik bozukluğunun fenomenolojisi ve ayırıcı tanı tarihsel bir bakış açısıyla gözden geçirilmiştir.

Narcissistic personality was described in early psychoanalytic literature. In the last twenty-five [year]s, there has been an enormous interest in the phenomenology and psychodynamics of narcissism and in the diagnosis and treatment of narcissistic personality disorder. In spite of this interest, there is not enough empirical data about the disorder. In this paper, data about the phenomenology of narcissistic personality disorder and differential diagnosis are reviewed in a historical perspective.
