Otizm tanısı almış 15 olgu ile yaş ve cinsiyet açısından eşlemeli 15 sağlıklı kontrolün erken ve orta latans işitsel uyarılmış potansiyelleri araştırılmıştır. Her iki grubun karşılaştırılmasında erken latanslarda gruplar arasında farklılık saptanmamıştır. Orta latanslarda ise otistik grubun sol kulak Pa latansında kontrol grubuna göre istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı uzama belirlenmiştir. Bu bulgu otistik grupta primer işitsel kortekste bir patolojinin varlığını ya da yaygın bir patolojinin yansıması olabileceğini düşündürmüştür.

Early and midlatency of the auditory evoked potentials of 15 cases diognosed autistic and 15 healthy controls, matched in age and sex, are investigated. The comparison of the early latency of the autistics and the controls showed no difference. At the midlatency, left ear Pa latency of the autistics were significantly long comparison with the controls. This finding thought to be the result of a primary pathology at the auditory cortex or the reflection of a widespread pathology.
