Günümüze kadar olan gelişimi boyunca aile terapisi, iki büyük bilimsel hareket ve bu hareketlerin getirdiği üç farklı bakış açısından etkilenmiştir. Bunlar pozitivizm, yapılandırmacılık ve sosyal yapısalcılıktır. Bu makalede amaç, bu üç bakış açısının aile terapisine etkilerini incelemektir. Bu amaçla; pozitivist aile terapileri (yapısal ve stratejik aile terapisi), yapılandırmacı aile terapileri (Milan ve Post Milan yaklaşımları) ve sosyal yapısalcı aile terapilerinin (Çözüm Odaklı Yaklaşım, Öyküsel Yaklaşım, İşbirlikçi Dil Sistemleri, Çift Yönlü Ayna Modeli) insan doğasına bakış ve terapötik süreç bakımından epistemolojik karşılaştırmaları yapılmıştır. Sonuçta, modern ya da postmodern aile terapilerinin hiçbirinin bir diğerine üstünlüğünden söz edilemez ancak birbirlerini tamamlayıcı, geliştirici ve çeşitlendirici niteliklere sahip oldukları açıktır. Hem etkililiği kanıtlanmış, nesnel bir müdahaleler kullanan aile terapilerine, hem de ideal bir ailenin tek bir çeşidi olmadığını öne süren aile terapilerine aynı anda ihtiyacımız vardır.

Throughout its development to date, family therapy has been influenced by two major scientific movements and three different perspectives brought about by these movements. These are positivism, constructivism and social constructionism. The purpose of this article is to examine the effects of these three perspectives on family therapy. For this purpose positivist family therapies (structural and strategic family therapy), constructivist family therapies (Milan and Post Milan approaches), and social constructionist family therapies (Solution Focused Approach, Narrative Approach, Collaborative Language Systems, Two-way mirror) in terms of human nature and therapeutic process have been epistemologically compared. The results obtained has been discussed and suggestions have been submitted for researchers and practitioners. As a result, it is not possible to talk about the superiority of either modern or postmodern family therapies over the other, but it is clear that they have complementary, enhancing and diversifying qualities. We need at the same time family therapies that use objective interventions that have proven effective, and family therapies that suggest that there is no one type of ideal family.
