Bu araştırmanın amacı, Player Unknown’s Battle Grounds (PUBG) oyunu ile diğer çevrimiçi oyunları oynayan Z kuşağının çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığının incelenmesidir. Araştırmada var olan durum durumun tespit edilmesi amaçlandığından nicel betimleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini; yaşları 16-25 arasında değişen ve çevrimiçi oyun oynayan 214 katılımcı oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veriler araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığını ölçebilmek amacıyla Kaya (2013) tarafından geliştirilen ve geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik çalışmaları yapılan “Çevrimiçi Oyun Bağımlılığı Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmada, veri toplama araçları katılımcılara hem basılı hem de dijital olarak uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizi SPSS 21 programı ile yapılarak, %95 güven düzeyi ile çalışılmıştır. Analizde parametrik yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen birtakım bulgular şu şekildedir: (a) PUBG oyunu oynayan Z kuşağının, diğer çevrimiçi oyunları oynayan Z kuşağına göre bağımlılık düzeylerinin daha riskli düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir; (b) PUBG ile diğer oyunları oynayan erkeklerin aksaklık ve ekonomik kazanç boyutlarında çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığı daha yüksek bulunmuştur; (c) Günlük PUBG oynama süresi arttıkça çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığının arttığı görülmüştür; (d) Çok oyunculu oyun oynayanların tek oyunculu oyun oynayanlara göre çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığı yüksek bulunmuştur; (e) Oyun oynarken hırslı hissettiğini bildirenlerin çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığı, heyecan/stres hissedenlere göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur ve başarı odaklı bağımlılık ortaya çıkmıştır. Araştırmada, Z kuşağının gündelik yaşamlarında olumsuz etkilenmemesi için çevrimiçi oyun bağımlılığı kapsamında önleyici çalışmalar yapılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.

The aim of this research is to examine the online game addiction of Generation Z who plays Player Unknown’s Battle Grounds (PUBG) and other online games. The quantitative descriptive method was used in the research, since it was aimed to determine the existing situation. The sample of the study consisted of 214 participants playing online games. Their age ranges from 16-25. “Personal Information Form” prepared by the researcher and the “Online Game Addiction Scale” developed by Kaya (2013) to measure online game addiction and whose validity and reliability studies were conducted were used to collect the data in the research data collection tools were applied to the participants both in print and digital form. The analysis of the data was done with the SPSS 21 program, and it was studied with a confidence level of 95%. Parametric methods were used in the analysis. Some of the findings obtained in the research are as follows: (a) It has been found that the level of addiction of Generation Z who plays PUBG game is at a higher risk level than the Generation Z who plays other online games; (b) Males who play PUBG and other games have higher online gaming addiction in terms of disruption and economic gain; (c) As the daily PUBG playing time increased, online game addiction increased; (d) Online game addiction was found to be higher among those who play multiplayer games than those who play single player games; (e) Online game addiction of those who reported feeling ambitious while playing games was found to be higher than those who felt excitement/stress, and success-oriented addiction emerged in the first group. In the research, it was concluded that preventive studies should be done within the scope of online game addiction so that the Generation Z is not adversely affected in their daily lives.
