Bu araştırmanın amacı umut, azim ve öz-yeterlik karakter güçlerinin ergenlerin depresyon düzeyleriyle ilişkisini incelemek ve bu değişkenlerin depresyon düzeyini etkileme mekanizmasını açıklamaya yönelik olarak alanyazın temelli geliştirilen bir model önerisini sınamaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, Van Merkezde lise öğrenimine devam eden 491 kız ve 259 erkek olmak üzere toplam 750 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmaya farklı sınıf düzeylerinden (9, 10, 11 ve 12. sınıf) ve okul türlerinden (Fen, Anadolu, Meslek ve İmam Hatip) lise öğrencileri katılmıştır. Araştırma verilerini toplamak için Sürekli Umut Ölçeği, Azim Ölçeği, Çocuklar İçin Öz-yeterlik Ölçeği ve Beck Depresyon Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modeli ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analizler için SPSS Statistics 25 ve AMOS 24 programları kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında önerilen model, yapısal eşitlik modellemesi ile test edilmiş ve kabul edilebilir uyum değerleri ile doğrulanmıştır. Çalışmada geliştirilen modelin fit uyum indekslerinin iyi uyum verdiği ve elde edilen katsayıların istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada geliştirilen alternatif modelde azim umudu artırmakta, umudun artması özyeterliği arttırmakta, özyeterliğin artması da depresyonu azaltmakta ve depresyona karşı koruyucu bir faktör olmaktadır.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between hope, perseverance and self-efficacy character strengths with the depression levels of adolescents and to test a model proposal developed based on the literature to explain the mechanism by which these variables affect the depression level. The study group of the research consists of a total of 750 students, 491 girls and 259 boys, who continue their high school education in Van Center. High school students from different grade levels (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades) and school types (Science, Anatolian, Vocational and Imam Hatip) participated in the research. The Continuous Hope Scale, the Perseverance Scale, the Children's Self-Efficacy Scale and the Beck Depression Scale were used to collect the research data. The research was carried out with the relational screening model. SPSS Statistics 25 and AMOS 24 programs were used for analysis. The model proposed within the scope of the research has been tested with structural equation modeling and verified with acceptable fit values. It was determined that the fit indexes of the model developed in the study gave good fit and the coefficients obtained were statistically significant. As a result, in the alternative model developed in this study, perseverance increases hope, increases in hope increases self-efficacy, and increases in self-efficacy reduce depression and become a protective factor against depression.
