Narsisistik kişilik bozukluğu, dünyada ortak kabul görmüş bir tanılama sistemi olan Ruhsal Bozuklukların Tanısal ve İstatistiksel El Kitabı’nda (DSM-5) açıklanan 12 kişilik bozukluğundan birisidir. Narsisistik kişilik bozukluğunun DSM-5’teki betimsel tanımlamasından farklılıklar taşıyan psikodinamik tasvirleri de bulunmaktadır. Bu tasvirler kendi içinde de yorum farklılıkları bulunan psikodinamik yaklaşımların çeşitli alt tip narsisistik yapılanmalar tarif etmesine sebep olmuştur.

Narcissistic personality disorder is one of the 12 personality disorders described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), a widely accepted diagnostic system in the world. There are also psychody- namic descriptions of narcissistic personality disorder that differ from the descriptive definition in the DSM-5. These descriptions have caused psychodynamic approaches, which also have interpretation differences in themselves , to describe various subtypes of narcissistic structures.
