Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin benlik algısının empatik becerileri yordama düzeyinin incelenmesidir. Bu araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde bir araştırmadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Çanakkale ili Ezine ilçesinde öğrenim görmekte olan ortaokul öğrencileri (n=125) oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin toplanılmasında Çocuklar İçin Benlik Algısı Profili, Çocuk ve Ergenler İçin Empati Ölçeği Türkiye Formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler Pearson korelasyon analizi, basit doğrusal regresyon ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre benlik algısının yaş ve anne babanın evlilik durumu arasında negatif yönlü, anne babanın eğitim durumu ile pozitif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişkisi bulunmuştur. Empatik beceriler ile kardeş sayısı arasında negatif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Benlik algısının empatik becerileri anlamlı şekilde yordadığı ancak benlik algısı alt ölçeklerinin empatik beceriler üzerinde etkisi olmadığı bulunmuştur. Ayrıca sosyodemografik özelliklerin benlik algısı üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiş olup yordayıcı değişkenlerden annenin eğitim düzeyi ve anne babanın evlilik durumları değişkenlerinin benlik algısı üzerinde anlamlı yordayıcı olduğu görülmektedir ancak sosyodemografik özelliklerin empatik beceriler üzerinde anlamlı bir yordayıcı olmadığı bulunmuştur.

The aim of this study is to examine the level of self-perception of secondary school students to predict empathic skills. This research is a relational survey model. The sample of the study consists of secondary school students (n=125) studying in Ezine district of Çanakkale. Self–Perception Profile for Children and Empathy Scale for Children and Adolescents Turkey Form use have used in the collection of data. The data have analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, simple linear regression and multiple linear regression analysis. According to the results obtained, a negative relationship of self perception between age and parents' marital status and positively with the educational status of the parents has found. A significant negative relationship has found between empathic skills and the number of siblings. It has found that self-perception significantly predicted empathic skills, but selfperception subscales have no effect on empathic skills. In addition, the effect of sociodemographic characteristics on self-perception was examined and it has found that the variables of the educational level of the mother and the marital status of the parents have significant predictors of self-perception, but it has found that sociodemographic characteristics have not significant predictors of empathic skills.
