Transseksüalite cinsiyetin bedensel özellikleriyle ruhsal özelliklerinin birbiriyle uyuşmadığı bir kavramdır. Uzun yıllar "Cinsel Kimlik Bozukluğu" olarak adlandırıl- mış transseksüalite kavramı bu yönüyle cinselleşmiş bir kimlik oluşumda yaşanan zorluğa da işaret etmektedir. Cinsiyet geçişini amaçlayan transseksüeller hormon tedavileri ve/veya cerrahi girişimlere başvurmaktadır. Bu girişimler her zaman olumlu sonuç vermemekte, başarısız ve hazırlıksız operasyonlar bireylere hem ruhen hem de bedenen zarar verebilmektedir. Bedene yönelik yoğun uğraşları olan transseksüel bireylerin beden imajlarının ne kadar cinselleşmiş olduğu merakıyla yola çıkılan bu araştırmada I., III. ve V. Kartlara verilen yanıt içerikleri incelenmiştir. Bunun sonucuna transseksüel bireylerin cinselleşmiş bir beden tasarımı oluşturmada ve erotizasyonu bedenle bütünleştirmede zorlandıkları görülmüştür.
