Amaç: Bu çalışmada tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde depresyon ve anksiyete prevalansının araştırılması ve depresyon ve anksiyete ile ilişkili olabilecek faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma kesitsel türdedir. Çalışmanın örneklem büyüklüğü; Epi Info programıyla 342 kişi olarak hesaplanmıştır. Araştırma için, 49 soruluk bir veri toplama formu kullanılmıştır. Formun 35 sorudan oluşan ilk bölümü sosyodemografik özellikleri ve öğrencilere ilişkin çeşitli yaşam özelliklerini, 14 sorudan oluşan ikinci bölümü ise Hastane Anksiyete ve Depresyon Ölçeği’ni (HADÖ) içermektedir. Sayısal verilerin özetlenmesinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, ortanca, minimum ve maximum değerleri, kategorik verilerin özetlenmesinde sayı ve yüzdelikler kullanılmıştır. Kategorik veriler arasındaki ilişkiler Ki-kare testi ile değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel olarak p<0,05 anlamlı kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: %59’u kadın ve %41’i erkek olan araştırma grubunun yaş ortalaması 22,31±2,20 idi. Katılımcıların %49’unun (n=250) depresyon puanı 7 ve üzerindeyken; %36,3’ünün (n=185) anksiyete puanı 10 ve üzerinde idi. Araştırmada annenin çalışma durumu, öğrencinin kendi gelir durumu, hayatının herhangi bir döneminde sigara kullanma durumu, tıp fakültesinde öğrenci olmaktan memnun olma, derslerinde başarılı hissetme, kendi sevdiği şeylere vakit ayırabilme, sağlıklı beslendiğini düşünme ve anksiyete puanı değişkenlerinin depresyon durumunu etkilediği bulunmuştur (p <0,05). Ayrıca cinsiyet, ilişki durumu, hayatının herhangi bir döneminde sigara kullanma durumu, tıp fakültesi öğrencisi olmaktan memnun olma, kendini derslerinde başarılı hissetme, kendi sevdiği şeylere vakit ayırabilme, sağlıklı beslendiğini düşünme, psikologla/psikiyatristle görüşme yapma durumu, psikologla/psikiyatristle görüşmeyi düşünme durumu, tanılı psikiyatrik hastalık, düzenli kullanılan psikiyatrik ilaç, akrabalarda psikiyatrik hastalık değişkenlerinin anksiyete durumunu etkilediği belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Sonuç: Araştırma sonucunda tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde depresyon ve anksiyete prevalansı yüksek bulunmuştur. Depresyon ve anksiyete ile ilişkili bazı değişkenler olduğu saptanmıştır.

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the prevalence of depression and anxiety disorder among medical school students and to determine the factors that may be associated with depression and anxiety disorder. Methods: The study is cross-sectional. The sample size of the study is calculated as 342 people with the Epi Info program. 510 people are included in the research. For the research, a data collection form with 49 questions is used. The first part of the form, consisting of 35 questions, includes sociodemographic features and various life characteristics related to students, and the second part of the form, consisting of 14 questions, includes the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, median values are used to summarize the numerical data, and numbers and percentages are used to summarize the categorical data. Relationships between categorical data are evaluated by Chi-square test. P<0,05 is considered statistically significant. Results: The average age of the research group, which consists of 510 people, 59% of whom are female and 41% of whom are male, is 22.31 ± 2.20. 49% of the participants (n=250) have a depression score of 7 and above; 36.3% (n=185) have an anxiety score of 10 and above. In the study, the mother's working status, the student's own income status, smoking status in any period of her/his life, being pleased to be a medical school student, feeling successful in her/his lessons, being able to spend time on things she/he likes, thinking about eating healthily, and anxiety score variables affected the depression status (p<0.05). In addition, gender, relationship status, smoking status in any period of her/his life, being pleased to be a medical school student, feeling successful in her/his lessons, being able to spend time on things she/he likes, thinking about eating healthily, thinking about talking to a psychologist/psychiatrist, diagnosed psychiatric illness, regularly used psychiatric medication, and psychiatric illness in relatives affected the anxiety disorder state (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the research, the prevalence of depression and anxiety disorder is found to be high among medical students. It has been determined that some sociodemographic and life features are related to depression and anxiety disorder
